Oil Change in Orangeburg, SC at 2810 North Road.

I was in a pickle as the place where I went for an oil change had a shop full of cars in the air when I arrived. Since I didn’t have 2-3 hours to wait for the traditional time it takes to check out my car and have the oil changed, I was happy to pull up to Take 5 Oil Change where these guys knocked it out of the park!! They even showed me how clean the oil was on the oil dipstick. I was more than willing to pay double for what the other guys charged for getting it done in way less time! Less than 20 minutes?? You can’t beat that! Don’t be cheap and not want to pay them for the express service they provide. They rock 🤘! Keep in mind this isn’t a full service shop…my husband usually changes the oil in our cars in 30 minutes so I was impressed. They even let me bring my own oil and filter.

I have only been to Take 5 twice. I do not know what proper procedure is for the techs there so my thoughts are based only on what could see and hear. I paid for a high mileage 10k mile oil change the 1st time with a $25 off coupon totalling somewhere around $120. My first experience was generally good. The techs seemed to be knowledgeable and informative. They took their time and, from what I could see, did all of their tasks thoroughly and with care. They asked me several questions about my vehicle and explained what they could do during the service. They also communicated with each other often during the process. I paid at the end when everything was done and i felt reasonably assured that they did all of the checklist items. My 2nd experience was a bit mixed. I paid for the same oil change and was told I needed a Coolant flush and replacement with a $25 discount totalling $273. I feel as though the tech was rushing through the process, looking over his shoulder to idk, maybe see if anyone was watching him? I am uncertain as to whether he skipped steps on purpose or if he didn't know he was supposed to do certain things but he made me pay almost right away and handed me a printout that said all of the things on the list were done already even though that is not possible obviously. I do not know how many of the checklist tasks he even completed but I do know he did not do anything that was not under my hood and he had to be reminded by another tech to do things like cleaning the numbers written on my windshield before I left. He also made some offhand comments about whether my husband managed my car maintenance for me or if i ever took it anywhere myself. I do not believe his behavior is an overall reflection of Take 5 as a business but I would prefer not to have him personally service my vehicle again. I would return but I do believe that I may need to take someone with me that knows more about car maintenance because the difference in movement and behavior between my 2 visits makes me wonder if everything was done completely and correctly the 2nd time.

I had an excellent experience with Huncho, the Assistant Manager at Take 5. He was professional, friendly, and extremely informative throughout the entire visit. The service was quick, yet he still took the time to perform a thorough check on my friend’s vehicle and explain everything clearly. Although I only came in for an oil change and didn’t have time for additional services, his knowledge and approach definitely would have convinced me to get more done. His customer service truly stood out. We will absolutely be returning, and my friend was very glad I recommended this location. Five-star service from both of us!
